New beginnings

Hello there!

Gosh it has been a long time since I wrote anything here.  I blogged as Love Made My Home from mid 2013 and then it drifted off over 2017 or so I think.  I'm not totally sure because I have deleted all of my old posts so I don't know when I last wrote a blog post here.

Lots of things made me stop blogging, which I am not going to go into, but I have been mulling things over in the last few weeks and months and I thought that I might give it a go again, but in a different way to the way that I blogged before.  Again I am not going to go into to much detail - that was one of the things that made me stop before!!

Instead I am here, it is a new year a new week and a new beginning to start something new in a new way.  Rather than hold on to the past, or try to explain it, or to plan or pin down the future too much either I am just going to go with it and see what happens.  Be in the moment and be mindful of what is happening right now.

Starting later this week I will be posting about some seasonal things, I have a lovely collection of books that follow the seasons so I want to follow those myself and share some of that with you too.  There might be a post or two about what I am up to from time to time, along with a smattering of crochet along with some knitting - I am a knitter now! - with some bookish things and who knows what else.  We will see as we go along.  My blog was always a varied selection of things and I don't suppose that it will be any different this time around.  I will be here once a week or so just to share a little bit of something.

I am mostly on Instagram where you can find me as lovemademyhome - of course! - and if you and I don't already connect over there perhaps you could find me and drop me a DM to let me know you are there and I will find you and we can follow each other along over there too.  I am around on Instagram much more often than I will be posting on my blog.

I know it is a little cheeky, but I can't think how else to do it, but I wondered if I could ask for your help!  Having been out of the blogging world for a while I wanted to let people know that I am back and also to find out who is out there and whose blogs you would recommend that I read.  So I wondered if you could help me with two things?  Can you leave me a comment below so that I know you are there - and still blogging! - and perhaps mention a few other blogs for me to visit in your comment and also could you please put the word out and link to me on your blog and Instagram that I am here again if anyone would like to stop by.  Thank you so much in anticipation that you would be willing to and can help me!  I really do appreciate it.

I hope that you are all well and enjoying whatever life has bought you or is bringing you and that it has bought you some good things, especially over Christmas.  I look forward to being back in touch with you and to hearing from you and what you are up to.

As I said I will be back later in the week with a new post about the seasonal things of life, but in the meantime if you want to start getting seasonal right away can I recommend that you go and have a look at these two blogs to find out about Plough Monday which is today.  Sue at The cottage at the end of a lane and Karen at Lavender and Lovage

Happy New Year and I look forward to hearing from you!

Amy

  3. Hi Amy, welcome back to Blogland. I hope you had a lovely Christmas and I wish you health and happiness for the New Year. I am still blogging, but not as often. My blog needs refreshing in some way, but I am not sure how. Many of my favourites have stopped, and I miss them. It was lovely to see your photo on Instagram recently, and you look wonderful. xx

  4. Hi Amy, it's Jacky from Dicky Bird's Nest. I'm glad you are back blogging. I already follow you on instagram. I would like to know the same things. Where have all the bloggers gone? Who is still doing those blog hops? Any good ones to link to? If we, as like minded bloggers, could connect with some other ones that would be great. I didn't blog near as much last year as I had prior. I had a really good stretch of page views at the end of 2016. However, it was consuming me and all my energy to reach higher page views from the month before. I was setting myself up for failure...so, I just dropped off too. I did miss it! My word of the year is RECLAIM and one of the things I want to reclaim is my blogging. Thanks for sharing.

I will mention you in my next blog post which will be on Thursday I think although most of my readers have dropped off too. Looking forward to your future posts. :) xx

  11. Glad you are back. I had a year off too, so know how daunting it is to come back. Just go with it and blog about what you enjoy - that's what I've been doing. Good luck.

  16. Nice to see you back here Amy. I left my blog for 11 months but decided on January 1 after some deliberation to give it another try. I see you on Instagram of course and I would love to post more there myself but using a computer rather than a phone makes it a little more tricky. The blogging world is certainly a quieter place than it was bit I like it so I am giving it another go and not letting inner turmoil get the better of me (I hope).
I'll definitely mention that you are back blogging. It was good to see your new post pop up in my reading list.

  17. Hi Amy - it is good to see you back here again - I had a quick look at your instagram photos although I don't actually do it myself. I saw the lovely photo of you and hardly recognised you - I hope you don't mind me saying but you look fantastic and must have lost a ginormous amount of weight. Really well done, that is a hard thing to do and achieve so successfully.

  19. Hi Amy,
    Happy New Year!
I will mention your return when I blog but I only blog a couple of times a month or so. I’ve been cross stitching, quilting, reading and recently started amigurumi.
I’ve missed your “Five on Friday” and now Crazy Mum Quilts has stopped her “Finish it up Friday” too!
It’s good to see you return to blogging! Missed you!

  22. Hello there, I saw on Tracys post that you had started blogging and thought I would see what you blog about. I have been blogging for over ten years, mostly about gardening, but then also veering into crafts and cooking. Like many others i have decided this yer to blog more regularly and branch out a bit. I live in tropical North Queensland, and during the hot and humid summers I tend not to grow too much, although nature goes its merry way with gingers and orchids popping up in odd places! I look forward to following along with you.

  26. Hello Amy,

Not sure if I have ever commented on your blog before, but am dropping by because I hear you are blogging again. The word is getting out there :)

I hopped over to IG for a few years but have moved back to my blog as I enjoy it so much more.

It seems there are quite a few bloggers rekindling their blogs, this is great to see.

  30. Found You! It wouldn't let me in your profile via the comment on the blog so I tried blog name in google and there you were!
thank you for the comment and I've put you back on my side bar, amazed to know your page views came from my blog as you've been blogging longer than me I think.
Anyway, hope you enjoy getting back in the swing of blogging , some people have gone but others returned after a break. I'm still plodding on as it keeps me busy when I'm on my own

  31. Hi Amy, I have had a long break from blogging too. We all need a rest and several friends are still doing just that.

Happy New Year to you . . :)

  32. Welcome back, Amy. So nice to see you blogging again. It's a little slower pace than IG and more thoughtful, in my opinion.
I found so many wonderful blogs through your link up Fridays, and I still follow a number of them. Looking forward to your seasonal books post.

  34. Hi Amy, my blog Lupey Loops is still going although it has been rather sporadic in 2018 due to personal issues. This year, I'm trying to catch up on all the things I didn't get to blog about last year! So far so good. Also trying to reconnect in the blogosphere and catch up on everyone's news so here I am visiting you.

I was never interested in Instagram. I ended up getting an Instagram account @jodiebodiecrochets because the crochet community was moving from blogs to IG. Instagram became the only place to find some people as many abandoned their blogs. Personally, I don't like IG much. It's no blogging tool. It's hard to manage connections plus it works best on my phone and my hands have trouble typing into my phone.

I much prefer blogs because they are more deliberate. There is more consideration and information generally in blog entries allowing people to have more personal connections between writer and reader. It's the community aspect of blogging that I like.

Blogs still on my list include Crochet Between Worlds, Mereknits, Foxslane, T's Daily Treasures (Tammy's), Handmade by Amalia, Crafty Escapism and Finding My Miracle.

I've tried to keep my blog focussed on things in my life such as crochet and health but it has drifted a little to music and events - whatever I am involved with at the time. It's a diary I can look back on and a place to collate references about things that interest me. That it interests others too is a bonus.

Great to see you back Amy but I must admit I hadn't noticed you'd been gone because I was absent myself for much of 2018. Meet you in the blogosphere! xx
