Day Thirteen Grateful Blogging February

Wow it is wet here today!  It rained all night and is still raining now.  I don't know how much rain has fallen, but I know that it is a lot.  I am not complaining though, as long as it doesn't snow I take what we get and try to make the best of it because I know that I am very fickle about the weather.  I don't do well in high heat or when it is very cold so it is usually either too hot or too cold for me, so I try not to complain about the temperature.  I cannot cope with snow though - no beautiful Scottish Island home for me sadly! - so as I say, as long as it isn't snowing I just take what we get.

Today though it was quite a challenge to get out in the rain when it was so wet and so cold.  I am glad that I did though because there were 11 of us on our walk today with my group, far less than we have had in recent weeks, one week we had over 40 people.  I am glad that I could be there to walk with the small group and to support the leaders who had planned and already walked the walk, it would be sad if no one turned up after all of their hard work.

It was worth it though, we went on through the rain and thankfully without too much mud and had a good time.  It was good to be out and moving and in the countryside.

Today I am thankful for many things, my waterproof coat - it is bright orange, but very waterproof - and my wellington boots, my scarf and gloves and hat to keep me warm and my walking pole to keep me upright on the muddy hill that we had at the end of the walk.  I am also grateful for the company of others and the leaders who turned out to lead us round the walk and for their preparations, which they had thankfully for them done yesterday in the sunshine.

I am also thankful that it is pancake day!  Well, Shrove Tuesday more properly of course, but pancake day as far as the eating is concerned.  The batter for the pancakes has already been made and we will be having pancakes for dinner, with lemon and sugar with me and with maple syrup for Hubby I expect.

I plan to do some housework when I have had my lunch and then write some e-mails which are long overdue to some lovely friends and who deserve a cheery e-mail.  I don't think it is an afternoon to do much else!  Everything else can wait.

Hope you are not too soggy in your part of the world today and that you get to enjoy some pancakes wherever you are or whatever your weather is.

  1. Today I am thankful that there was no damage done from the storm that hit last night. I am also thankful that the snow on this Little Scottish Island got washed away with all the rain that hit through the night and that the sun is shining. I do indeed feel blessed.

  2. I'm glad you were able to get out and walk, even in the rain. I need to find a walking buddy. I have to get moving! I would love to do another 5K even if I walk most of it. Today, I'm thankful that I was able to speak my mind about some hurt feeling I had about a place I sell my antiques and wares at. I tend to not want to rock the boat, but most times it is at my expense. So, I worked up the gumption to say how I felt to one of the vendors. Now on to the shop keeper...I'm working up just the right words to speak out of love rather than my hurt feelings. It might take me awhile....

  3. I am thankful for my health. I am also thankful that I live by the ocean and am able to visit it very often.

  4. A waterproof coat is a good thing to be thankful for! No sogginess here - just cold, cold snow!

  5. I am SO grateful that the roads are mostly clear and I could get out and about today. I went for a longer walk down at a different park and they had cleared some of the paths!

  6. We had crazy weather here too, humid yet windy and thunder/lightening this morning but no rain! I stole a few moments by the sea despite the ferociousness this morning, and it was beautiful. I am thankful for little moments like that where I feel so alive and grateful all at once. Elisa xx
