Day Fifteen Grateful Blogging February

2 years ago I wouldn't have even considered thinking the thing that I am going to share with you today for my gratitude posts, and that is why I am even more grateful for it.

My dentist and the staff at the surgery is what I am grateful for today.  I know!  Who is grateful for their dentist, but I really am.

18 months ago I went to the dentist in terrible pain, with terrible teeth in terrible shape and they have coaxed and helped and repaired and fixed up my teeth and the way I feel about my teeth.  They have cared for my teeth and for me and have really helped me.

So much that today I went for an impression for a bite guard to help with my jaw clenching and I just breathed through it - twice because the first one wasn't good enough - and all was fine.  I then had two x-rays and didn't spit out the x-ray thing and again I just breathed through it.  When I first went to them they struggled to get an x-ray, or for me to even keep my mouth open for more than 30 seconds.

This is all due to their help and encouragement and more than anything the kindness that has been shown to me.

They know that I am so grateful for them, because I told them, and gave them crocheted gifts at Christmas and I am so glad that I could tell them that.

Today I am grateful for my dentist and the wonderful receptionist and the other lovely staff there too.

If you don't have a good dentist or you don't have a good relationship with them that means that you avoid the dentist all I can say after years of avoiding the dentist and ending up with bad teeth is to give someone else a try and keep on trying to find the right person because really your teeth are worth it and although I now have a great dentist I will never get back the teeth I haven't got or the condition of the remaining teeth so please don't fall into the same state that I have.

That said, I hope you too have a great dentist and great teeth!

  1. Well done Amy, that is a big achievement for anyone, and I am so happy for you. Fear of dentists is not uncommon, and you have conquered it wonderfully.

  2. A good dentist and dental staff is something to be grateful for. I had one in California, but not much luck here, so I feel your pain and your success.

  3. Good for you! I am in the middle of dental work with a new dentist, too. I had to leave my last dentist because of his recptionist. Let’s just say that she made me feel less than every time I visited. Enough of that!

  4. Congratulations, you have done so well and come so far. Today I am thankful for a good camera taking some wonderful pictures of the waves breaking on the rocks to share with the family.

  5. Three cheers for your fab dentist team! I am glad that our dentist is a wonderful person, too. x

  6. Glad you've got a good one, I'm glad to say ours is good too. Though he can be rough with the scale and polishing so we tend to say, no thank you, for that. Cathy x

  7. Well done, hopefully that's it for a while, so glad you've got to grips with the dentist and all is well.

  8. Hooray for you! I am not a fan of going to the dentist, but I really like ours and am comfortable with him.

  9. Good for you! I have a good dentist, but I have to screw up my courage each time an appointment rolls around.

  10. Good for you Amy! I'm gad you're finally in a place where you are comfortable in the dentist's chair. I've been twice recently. My dentist is really lovely, but on my first visit the dental assistant was so miserable and off-hand I felt nervous and really on edge, even though it was only for a check up. There was a different assistant at the appointment for me to have my filling and she could not have been more different, we were laughing all the way through! X
