Hello!

Hello!

I have been away from my blog for a bit because I have been trying to decide whether or not to continue with it.  So that is why I have been missing!  Thank you to those of you who have been in touch concerned about me, I am fine and well as is Hubby.  It was so kind of you to ask about us, we really appreciate it and were very touched by your concern - which I hadn't intended to cause by disappearing, sorry about that!

So, am I continuing or not?  To be honest I am still not totally sure, but I wanted to give you some sort of an update because that seemed only fair, especially as more of you were getting worried about us and I really didn't want you to be worried unnecessarily.

Reasons for stopping include more time to do other things, more time with hubby, less time spent staring at a computer screen which is not good for my eyes.  Reasons for carrying on include all of you and the great fun times we have had together of course!  There are plusses and minuses on either side and right now I cannot really weigh them up in a way which gives me a correct answer, but to be honest with you I am veering towards stopping.

To everything there is a season and all that and perhaps my blog has just had its season and it is time to move on?  It doesn't mean it is a bad thing or because something bad has happened it is just that sometimes you have to move on and do new things don't you.

So I am afraid that it still up in the balance!  For now I will leave the blog up, and if I do decide to quit forever I will let you know before I do, but if and when I do they my blog will be closed down as I have decided that if I am not posting here and maintaining my blog I don't just want it hanging out there in cyberspace all alone.

I have a few book reviews and one crafty post that were in drafts so I will publish those over the next few days and then I will see how I go.  Perhaps I will just post occasionally.

That is it really because to be honest with you again, one of the reasons for considering stopping blogging is my propensity to overshare and the fact that I now want to retract a lot of that  - my mistake I blame none but myself - so I don't want to start oversharing or trying not to share now and being all cryptic and mysterious when it isn't necessary.

Thank you again for your worry, which I am so sorry to have caused, we really are fine and really are thankful to you all!

I hope you are well and enjoying autumn or spring in your part of the world!

Amy

  1. Thank you for taking the time to update us Amy. I'm glad to read that all is well with you as I was literally just wondering how you were and if I had accidentally missed a post either here or on Instagram.
Life does change and move on, and although I'm sure many of us would miss your posts if you choose to stop blogging, you must do what is right for you at this time. You could always return to posting at a later date if you wished.
Sending warm wishes to you and yours. X

  3. Amy, it's SO good to see you posting. Thank you for keeping us informed! I do miss your posts and I shall feel sad if you decide to stop blogging, at the moment it feels as if you are a friend who I don't see very often but when we do, we slip back into each other's company very easily. You must do the right thing for you. Sending hugs. xx

  4. So pleased to see you pop up in the blog roll Amy, and I am glad that you are both well and OK. Many bloggers are finding they wish to stop, and I too have thought about it. Such a hard decision! I also have been wondering about you, including on Instagram. Hugs to you xox

  5. Amy, I really enjoy reading your blog and (sort of in a cyber way) getting to know you but in the end you've got to do what's best for you and your family. I too would miss seeing you post but it's not an obligation. You're supposed to enjoy doing it and if you no longer enjoy it then it's time to move on. Life changes. I'm just glad you are okay. Take care!

  6. Please keep your blog up and come back. You can come back whenever you want and only post when you want to. I miss so many of my favorite bloggers who just stop blogging. I went away for a year myself. I know life gets busy, but just think about it.

  7. Selfishly, I hope that you find a way to continue. It can be on your new terms. I get every bit of what you said, though, as I sometimes feel the same way about my blog. Whatever you decide, all the best!

  9. must be something in the air. I touch on the whole subject of blogging today, and I've just had a little break away from blogging.

You'll decide what's best for you. xx

  10. Interesting! One of my friends was asking about blogs the other day. She knows nothing about the blogging world. She thought people chose a subject and then continued to write posts that connect with that particular topic. I told her that those kinds of blogs are short-lived because it doesn't take long to exhaust a subject and start boring ourselves, let alone our readers. The blogs I read (yours included) are sweet exhibits of people's lives, their choices and their imaginations, their good convictions and their love of humanity. You should keep going. I can tell you are a conscientious writer and that is appreciated, but maybe lighten up on the tasking (being real thorough) and post photos of your makes, your walks, your new ideas . . . You are so kind and thoughtful and have connected with so many people. Don't leave! You don't have to answer everyone or visit every blog (I feel compelled to do this as well) if you'd rather turn off the computer without guilt. People don't mind and if they do they should turn off their computers and walk away a little more often, too. Ha! You didn't ask for my opinion, I just realized. Sorry!

  12. So glad you're back, even if it's just for a while. I've tried accessing your blog and it kept telling me invitees only. I try to keep most personal things off my blog, but I still like blogging about bits of everything.

  13. I'm glad to see a post from you in my feed today. You must do what is in your heart, but please know that your words and always welcome. I feel as though blogging is a little visit across the miles with friends around the world. As PomPom said, feel free to share your makes, your reads, your walks and such. No one here is judging your blog. We come because we enjoy getting to know you.

  14. Good to see an update from you Amy. I am in the same position and have just decided to post when I want to and not on a regular basis, and so far it is working out. I wouldn't get rid of the site as lots of folks still come for reference, that is how it is on my site, lots still come for the patterns that were posted ages and ages ago. I try to use Instagram more, but even that is hit and miss. Blogging takes up a lot of time, but Instagram seems to be a quicker way of connecting with folks, and so many of my blogging buddings have gone that way. Family always comes first. Take care and will look forward to hearing from you in the future.

  15. Thank you Amy for taking the time to explain. I must confess to wondering why I hadn't seen any new posts and feeling flummoxed about the 'you've not been invited' bit when I clicked on your blog. Anyway all explained now, and I do totally understand. One thing I try and do when on face-book is to set a timer for 15 mins and then get off. With writing a blog, that strict timing of being on-line goes out the window. Then if you take part in any link-ups or generally want to connect with other peoples blogs - 'It All Takes Time'.
Whatever you decide Amy, it's been nice to have connected with you in a joint interest with crochet and books etc. I wish you and yours all the very best and thanks again for explaining x
Incidentally, you were the first person to have followed my blog, so for that alone I'll never forget you. I know what you mean about sharing too much. As a Christian, I made a conscious decision not to talk about that part of my life on my blog, to some it may seem a small part of their lives, but to me it is a major part. Also I never discuss my family, parents and brothers as mine was not at all a nice happy and safe home (understatement). You feel torn but once a decision is made on what you wish to disclose it gets easier. Cx

  16. Nice to see you. Again! It's all quite tricky isn't it. How about just blogging when you feel like it to record your books and makes and if you do anything you particularly want to remember as it's nice to look back on those things especially when you've forgotten where you went! x

  17. Nice to hear from you Amy, I was away for months because of things going on my life, I couldn't get into the right frame of mind and thought that's it no more, it is time consuming, but just recently I have found myself missing it and everyone in blogland so I'm back and will post and visit when I can and put no pressure on myself. Sometimes it's good to have a rant and I love to hear everyone's opinions. We will miss you if you do stop blogging I hope you won't but understand why if you do. Have a great weekend. 🙂Xx

  21. You have to do what feels right for you Amy. I am finding less time to blog and less time to visit my friends and that frustrates me because I do indeed think of many bloggers as friends. I just blog when I can and visit when I can. I don't get mad at myself for my limited time, it is what it is. I also don't put down rules for myself that I have to post on certain days or about certain subjects, it frees me what to do what I can when I can. Best of luck with your decision.

  22. Thanks for the update Amy. I've thought about it myself, but find a break is enough and I start up again. However, you have to do what is right for you. :)

  23. Do what feels best for you...
    Whatever that may be.
I am happy to know you are safe and sound!
    Hugs!!!

  24. Good luck to you Amy whatever you decide. I think there is something so supportive about the blogging community even if you only post now and again when you feel like it. B x

  25. Hello Amy. I've been thinking about you and would have sent you an email to ask after you, but I don't think you've included one on your blog. Anyway, I'm glad you've posted an update. I hope you'll keep posting from time-to-time. Your latest post about free style embroidery is very helpful to me as I want to do some, but hadn't thought how much easier it would be to work on a design using a small hoop. Working within a certain limited space would suit me fine - less daunting than doing a bigger piece. Lots of love, Linda x

  28. Hi Amy, I do hope you will continue with your blog! You have a lovely, pretty blog, and I’m sure you encourage lots of people to craft and blog by being on The blogosphere!
I don’t always comment but I love being able to pop by and see what is going on here. One kind of expects things to carry on forever and I would certainly miss you.
Of course you must do what is best for you and I wish you well whatever you decide.
    Hugs,
    Barbara x
