10 Random Things - instead of 5 on Friday!

I have been trawling back through my blog sorting it out.  This is for a couple of reasons, first of all I want to be able to find all of my old projects so that I can add links to them in the side of my blog so that you and I can find them easily.  Secondly a couple of years ago I had an issue where I lost photos in a lot of my posts.   I started to correct it and then gave up and now I am back to trying to sort that out too.  The best way to do both of these things is to go back to the start and work through one post at a time.  So far it is working well and I am finding all sorts of long lost treasures and at the same time this is also enabling me to update my records on Ravelry - you might have noticed that I have been adding quite a few of my crochet projects over there in the last few days.

Anyway, this post is titled 10 random things so I should get on with that!  The reason for this is that yesterday, when I was trawling through I came across a post with this title and remembered that - way back in 2014! - there was a bit of a fashion in blogland for such posts and I thought that I might give it a revival today.

Lately my posts have been mostly scheduled finished crafting project or book review posts and I though this might give some sort of a life update and be a bit of fun too.  So here we go!  Do feel free to join in with your own 10 random things posts and perhaps we can revive this again in blogland in 2017!

1.  It has been 4 years now since I started blogging.  Where has the time gone?  Here's to many more years of blogging to those of us who are still carrying on - because I notice from going back through those posts and reading comments that we have lost lots of great bloggers along the wayside.  We miss you!  Sorry for not having a blogaversary celebration or anything as I usually do.  It has rather passed me by this year.  Next year will be 5 years so I will try and do better for that!

2.  Sitting, as I am, at my desk I can see the pile of things that I have to share with you, write patterns for and generally sort out.  There are 5 that I can see just at a glance.  Busy times ahead hey.

3.  Gosh, thinking of 10 things is harder than I thought.  I wonder if I can get away with including this randomness as one of them....

4.  Outside it is cloudy and grey, there is a massive very dark grey cloud going past at the moment, I wonder if it will rain.

5.  I am out of practice at this sort of chatting blog post.  This isn't going as well as I thought it would.  Perhaps that is why these 10 random things posts fell out of favour.

6.  Right now I am reading another Agatha Christie book.  It is very odd and I don't know how we are going to get on together, I don't think that I am so keen on her stories that aren't Miss Marple or Hercule Poirot ones.

7.  The garden is growing really well, here are a few random pics!  Actually no pics because I got to the end of writing this and came back to get some photos, but I can't find any recent ones on my computer and it has now started raining outside so I am afraid popping out to get some isn't going to work.  This post is therefore even worse than it was already - see below......

8.  Pauses because she has totally run out of things to say and needs two more.  Well three including this one...  Plus the two that she already fudged above.

9.  I have started watching Outlander which is being shown on Channel 4 here in the UK at the moment.  I wouldn't have thought it was my sort of thing at all, but I am gripped!  I have also been watching The Gilmore Girls which is being shown too and loving that as well.  It is good to explore new TV isn't it.

10.  Staring around looking for a 10th random thing to share, I counted the recipe books that I can see on the shelves from where I am.  47.  Is that a lot or not?  I fear it is too many as I only use a handful again and again - Bill Granger and Nigel Slater mostly in case you wondered!

So that is my 10 random things, I will try again sometime if I remember and hopefully the 10 things will be more edifying than this has been.

Oh, and the instead of 5 on Friday bit.  That is because I haven't got up to where I started the 5 on Friday posts in my blog and these 10 random things posts were what I used to do before that and the 5 on Friday sort of grew out of it.  Just so you know!

If you would like to share 10 random things - probably more interesting ones than these! - please do, you can add a link to your post in your comment if you like and then we can all pop round and read them and be sociable!

Hope you are well and enjoying life whatever you are doing.

  1. Lovely list! Made me giggle. I might just try one myself!

  2. Outlander is fab, although I enjoyed season one more than two xx

  3. An interesting read & was definitely thought provoking as to what we can write about. Yes, we've lost some great bloggers over the years & I thought you'd been in blogland a lot longer than me, but we are about the same as my first post was in January 2013, so I'll be up to 5 early next year. Have a good weekend & take care.

  4. Your post made me laugh! I loved your 'list'. Congrats on the 4 year anniversary. I really enjoy reading your blog and am glad to see you getting back into the groove. It is especially wonderful to see the projects you've been working on.

  5. Amy, going on five years? Now I'm doing the math. Hmm ... 7 1/2 years for me. Where did the time go?! You do such beautiful work, I hope you can recover all the photos. I enjoyed The Gilmore Girls, too, but my husband couldn't stand to watch it (well, *hear* it, really) because their fast talking irritates him!

  6. Wow you are double me in blogging years. I must be coming up to my second anniversary. Where does time go :). Have a lovely weekend. B x

  7. Happy blog-o-versary. I know what you mean about "lost" bloggers. There are a few that don't post anymore that I really miss.

So ............keep blogging. I don't want to miss YOU too. :-) Have a happy weekend.

  8. I do love Gilmore Girls! It's addicting!

  9. I love this post, feels like we are chatting with a cup of tea. I am at the end of season seven of the Gilmore Gils and think I just might watch it all again after I am done. I love it. I often go back to read a post of mine and realize so many friends have left blogland, it makes me sad. Where are they? What has happened in their life? Stay with us Amy, I would miss you if you left.

  10. I love how you write as I presume you speak. Love this sort of thing too - here's to all things random!

  11. I love these chatty type of posts. Congrats on 4 years of blogging. Gilmore Girls was a favourite when my girls were still at home (and after they left). Such wild and witty conversations. I know of quite a few bloggers that have gone away, and I miss them. Happy weekend.

  12. I love a random list. You did well.
random: Listened to a wonderful NPR Radio Lab on the first female gondolier as my son suggested it as timely given our U.S. Recent sad issues
*eating peppered popcorn ... a new favorite of mine
*waiting for the hummingbirds to come by

  13. Amy, your list definately sound so much
like me. As my children say I meander but get where I am going. Love your list of 10. I so enjoy some British shows on Netflix. Felt like a visit with a friend.

  14. Great list Amy. There are fewer and fewer bloggers out there. They've switched to social media. Have a lovely weekend.
    xx Beca

  15. Alas, I already did my 5 on Friday, but enjoyed your random 10. Will be checking out all your projects soon.

  16. Great list, always wonderful to learn a bit more about what has been going on with you. :-) Have a wonderful weekend!

  17. I enjoyed your random list and it was lovely to sit and watch your podcast earlier this week. I'd forgotten how much I used to enjoy them. Happy weekend Amy, let's hope we see some sunshine.

  18. I love Outlander, I read the Diana Gabaldon books years ago (the first one is called Cross stitch in the UK) and was so excited to see a series had been made xx

  19. Enjoyed chatting with you today!
And I many bloggers have left our little world...for one reason or another.
    I miss them.
I am celebrating 5 years blogging next week.
    Crazy how time flies.
    Have a nice weekend!

  20. Always enjoy your little chats Amy. Blogging has changed a lot over the years hasn't it - I too wonder sometimes about the lovely bloggers who faded off the scene. Hope they are all well and happy too. Happy Sunday Amy.

  21. Ha! Great fun. It is a shame some people have stopped but after a while you find you're just saying the same old thing again or it's difficult for them to fit things in with all the children's activities. x

  22. Had giggle at your random 10, think I might do a post like this myself. I am a fan of Outlander too and it is very close to the book which is unusual. Jamie's a bit of a hunk isn't he :-)

  23. I too have enjoyed this chat. I always learn something if value after reading your blog. Enjoy your day! Pat xx

  24. That's fascinating how 10 random things became 5 on Friday and now as you say several of us are heading the way of one thing on Instagram, which I must admit suits my life well. You made me check and I will be at 5 years in September - amazing how the time flies isn't it? Congrats to you & good to still see you here! Hope the sun is shining tomorrow for us all!!
    Wren x

  25. I enjoyed your 10 random things. I think it's great to get to know our fellow bloggers better. I hope you're having good summer weather. We are heading into a stretch of scorching weather, up to 3 digits! I'm glad my way of exercising is getting into a chilly pool and swimming for an hour! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  26. Finally getting around to catch up! Loved this post - cracked me up. But I have to say that I LOVE Outlander!! I can't wait until it starts here in September! I want to watch all of the Gilmore Girls too! Blessings. xoxo

  27. Very good!
Keep with The Gilmore Girls, it's seven series worth of good fun.
