Halloween

We are not "doing" Halloween this year.  Not because we have anything against it, we just didn't get round to it because we are/have been busy with other things.  Actually we aren't exactly for it either, it is just easier to hand out sweets to the incessant door knockers somehow.

Anyway, that sounds gloomy and isn't meant to be, it is just an explanation of the lack of Halloween activities here on my blog.

So I leave you with a toothy pumpkin photo from a previous year and the knowledge that today, on Halloween, I am having a tooth out!  Great timing hey.  Or not!  I guess that if I showed the door knockers the gap - shame it is going to be right at the back on the top so they will not be able to see my lack of what the dentist thinks is a wisdom tooth, which is odd because I was supposed to have had them out, so what tooth did they take instead all those years ago I wonder, sorry for the toothy sidebar - that would be quite a Halloween surprise wouldn't it.

Did you follow that last bit?  No, I am not sure I did either.  Anyway, here is the pumpkin, cross your fingers that the tooth comes out in one piece for me!  Bet you haven't been asked to do that on a blog before, but it is Halloween.

Voila!  Pumpkin!!!  I am going to go and leave you in peace now.

Oh, and yes, I am slightly hysterical at the thought of the tooth.  Can you tell...........

Amy

p.s. I hope I don't look like this later today!

  1. Happy Halloween! Now that the kids aren't little anymore we don't do Trick-or-Treating. We're on a hill and no-one seems to want to walk up it anyway!

Good luck with the tooth out. For me the anticipation and thinking is worse than the actual deed when it comes to the dentist. Like you, I wonder what tooth they did take out!

    1. I didn't ask any more about the tooth, this one had to go and the previous one was a different dentist. All went as well as it could though thank you!

  2. Best of luck Amy. I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm hoping we don't get many callers this evening so it means I get to eat the sweets! X

  6. Hate having teeth out, I'm such a dental phobe they use to have to give me valium before they could work on me.

  9. I don't 'do' Hallowe'en, either. Indeed, I'm already sick of hearing about it on TV and when it comes to "the run up to Christmas", oh spare me ... And, of course, Halllowe'en as we knew it has been taken over by the gross Trick or Treat-fest. I've bought sweeties for the kiddies who call, but that's as far as it gets. I've better things to spend my time and money on - books for example, or even putting food in the food bank container in the supermarket for those poor families who really can't afford to buy food.
And then there's Bonfire Night, which seems to have been sidelined with the Trick or Treat business. How long before we adopt Thanksgiving as well? Oh, I'm a misery, I know!!! Fireworks are now being exploded (I won't go off as eggs go off, fireworks and bombs explode) from now until well into the New Year. What a thorough waste of money! I told you I was a misery, didn't I?
As for Christmas, we buy a real tree every year (from a local Christmas tree farm) and I bake a Christmas cake, and we buy presents for the family, but we don't go mad (or worse, into debt). It is, after all, one day in the year.
Best of luck with the toofypeg! Love your Hallowe'en pumpkin - about the only thing pumpkins are fit for, actually - I've had pumpkin soup. Once was quite sufficient!
Yes, I told you I was a misery! Put it down to all the clocks-back nonsense. Something else I could well do without!
    Ta ta!

  11. I hope all went well with your tooth extraction Amy! I had one out earlier this year and was put to sleep as it was a big old molar....and it was in pieces as it had a filling in it. I was pretty rough for a few days after but don't even miss it now. Haha. We hand out treats to a few friends who drop by with their kiddos but don't go for all the decorations etc. It will be quiet where we are as it is every year. I hope!! Take care.

  12. Hope all went well and that you are feeling OK. We don't bother with Halloween either and so far no one has knocked the door trick or treating either. I have got a few sweets in just in case but they won't go to waste, says me with a mouth full of chocolate.

  13. Good luck with the tooth extraction Amy - I hope it's not too painful. We don't go in for Halloween much here either. I've nothing against it, but it's not really my thing. I am however enjoying pumpkin soup and pumpkin pie - bring on the food! x

We didn't do Halloween this year either ... lights off, no Jack o Lantern, the doorbell rang once, dog bark bark barked, and that was it. I've done Halloween for over 20 years and I'm kinda burnt out now.

  22. Hope that all is well...upper teeth extractions are supposed to be much easier than bottom teeth ones. Yes, you do seem to have a dental mystery on your hands. I'd ask some pertinent questions. Hope that as I type this, you are sleeping peacefully and comfortably.

  23. I hope that tooth came out without any trouble for you. Do you know I am one of those weird people who never developed wisdom teeth? My husband says I should count that as a blessing. ;) One of my sons teased me and says "Well that explains a lot". Cheeky boy that one but I love him. ;)

  26. I had a tooth removed last Easter. It didn't hurt. You will be fine. I've often wondered about surgeries and such...if they actually do what they say they are going to do and how would we know. Never thought about teeth that way! Good luck.
