Not Instagram worthy

I have just finished recording this weeks podcast.  Look at the aftermath around my desk!!!  This is what you don't see on screen.

This isn't Instagram worthy!!!!

Everything starts of piled up on the desk in the order I will need it and then either gets dropped on the floor or thrown to one side as I have talked about it.  My next job is to tidy all this mess up.

Before I start recording I have to get my "set" ready and that involves trying to make the room look a little more like a crochet studio than an office which is what it is.  So I cover up some things and take down others and drape shawls about the place.  Not perhaps the most effective, but it is how things are for now.

So now you can see my computer is still propped up on the box that I use to get it at the right height and the video is uploading.  While I was recording a helicopter went over and then a delivery van arrived at one of the neighbours.  Now there is a plane flying over the house.  It is all go here when you are trying to record.

That is it!  The episode will be up tomorrow morning and you can see everything then.

I hope you have all had a good weekend, it was really hot and very sunny here and we spent most of the weekend sitting in the garden which was blissful.  Today it is grey, but still hot, so hopefully the cloud will go during the day and we can sit out again this evening.

When I wasn't reading I was crocheting, but it made me a bit crotchety as it wasn't going well.  Not good to be crotchety with your crochet!

Hope you all have a good Monday!

Amy

  1. It all looks charming to me, Amy, and not a mess at all! You are a creative artist after all, and there are happy signs of this everywhere. I love your patchwork box and the beautiful Missoni type crotchet rug, lower right. Gorgeous. xx

  2. I think I find non-instagram-worthy spaces far more interesting to look at. I think sometimes all the perfection can seem rather fake. Looking forward to the latest podcast :)

  4. I will look forward to the podcast. I've really enjoyed the previous ones and it's lovely to be able to put a face to a name. I think your crochet studio looks perfect to me and the stripey shawl is gorgeous. X

  5. Your studio is cute. My daughter and her friend had a you tube account where they sang songs. The first time they recorded one, they didn't look at the mess behind them. When they saw the video, the mess behind them...they began staging. I once typed a blog post about something and my cousin called me and said, "oh, your stove is full of dirty dishes." I took a picture of something on the table, that was clean and cute, but behind was the stove. I always think of this now when I post pictures.

  6. Crotchity crochet is no good at all. Thank you for showing us the behind the scenes shot.

  7. That looks a seriously busy work space. I'd be worried if it were tidy, Amy! You don't make an omelette without cracking eggs, as they say ... my study is smothered in paperwork and research stuff for my next article ... it certainly rivals your craft-work mess! (Love that shawl!!!)

  8. Love the shawl hanging there and I do like to see a bit of reality from time to time. Blogland can sometimes seem a little too perfect. xx

  9. It looks well thought out and organised with plenty of space for the discarded items. I never thought about external noises whilst you are recording that must be annoying at times. The shawl is lovely:)

  12. Your office is no different than a lot of spaces in all our homes I'm sure! Funny to see the aftermath, but it's not like you have time to fold things up and place them neatly aside when you're live. Creative chaos reigns ;) Glad you had a nice weekend. Our weather turned very cold and cloudy again so no outdoor lounging here yet. Today at least the sun is shining.

  16. I actually think it is very Instagram worthy, Amy. Think of the hash tags you could use to accompany the picture. #craftexplosion #podcasthurricane #creativemuddle :-)

  17. It all looks relatively tidy compared to my work space! I'd have to do some serious tidying up if I ever wanted to record something!

  18. I think it's no mistake that crotchety is so close in spelling to crochet!
    Have a great week Amy!

  19. I don't think that looks messy, that is normal for my craft room. Beautiful weather here too but unfortunately not predicted to last, such a shame.

  21. I always love the photos on people's blogs of the real stuff - like the tea towel on my stairs the other week, it makes me laugh but in a creative crazy kind of way. Jo x

  24. Now that is an insight as to how it all works, but I'm just blown away that you know how to do these things. I wouldn't be able to start one, let alone get anyone to watch it. BTW, the balls of yarn in the last photo are gorgeous. Could you tell me what they are please? Have a good week and take care.

  25. Hi Amy,

I enjoyed seeing where you shoot your videos and my daughter makes videos also and often had to contend with all the noise living in the busy City.
    Happy week

  26. I'm a neatnik, but I don't think your desk is that messy...I've seen a lot worse! I think it's Instagram worthy because it shows you've been busy and creative!

  27. you have such a pretty bright cheerful work space!!I do not get such bright light in my current home (and wish I did). Messy desks tell me someone is being super productive :)
