Catch Up

Since Friday...

Halloween, six big bags of sweets claimed in just over an hour.  It was crazy.  We turned off the lights and they kept coming.  We ignored them!  Nothing left to give out.

Anniversary, we have had another wedding anniversary.  Yay to my wonderful Hubby, I love you more than ever my dear dear man.  Thank you for being so wonderful.

Flowers, bought for me by Hubby for our anniversary.  He also bought a bottle of bubbles.

Ill, I have a stinking cold and cannot stop sneezing etc.  You can imagine, I will not bore you with more details.  Lost my voice somewhat too.  Throat feels as though it has been wire brushed.  No fun.  Had to cancel a coffee date with a friend tomorrow and a big day at work on Wednesday.

Blogging, non existent.  Sorry about that.  Can't focus for long enough to read.  Fortunately I can type without looking at the screen so hopefully this is OK.  Please excuse any typos on this.  I might not proof read it!

Weather, cold and foggy.  Brrrr.  Thank goodness for crochet blankets.

Crochet, non existent.  See Ill and Blogging.

Reading, nothing, see Ill and Blogging!  Annoyed as I wanted to get my book finished.

Watching, not really, but listening.  Various.  Mostly not too bad.  Wish that I remembered more of it.  Good news is that tally of things recorded is going down.  Usually it goes up and then they get deleted.

Drinking, tea.  Plus honey and lemon to soothe my throat.

Wishing, that I was asleep right now.  Just going to bed in a moment.  9.30 at night.  I slept a lot today as well.

Hoping, that the cold will go away very soon.

Doing, zilch, zero, nada, nothing.  Housework is mounting up.  The dust will have to wait.  And the laundry.  And everything else.

Feeling, sorry for myself.  Sorry!  I hate being like this.  I have been a little teary too.  I don't mean to be a grump or a sobber, I'm sure you know what I mean!!

See you on Friday if not before.

Hope that you are all OK and not suffering yourself.

Amy

  12. Happy Anniversary. I wished we had some treat or treaters. In our community they go to the local churches or subdivisions. I really miss seeing the little ones all dressed up.

  13. Happy Anniversary! So sorry that you have a nasty cold though. :(
We had no trick or treaters except our grandkids. Sounds like you had enough for both of us, plus a few!

We went through that same cold a few weeks back. It hung on for three weeks. YUCK! (But, part of that is my state of heath BEFORE the cold kicked in. :-( )

  15. Poor you - I hope you're feeling better soon. Keep at it with the honey and lemon. Take comfort in the fact that it's quite a cosy time to be ill - all that foggy weather, much better than being ill in summer! Keep warm. xx

  17. Dear Amy, there is Nothing Worse than trying to keep going through a cold. Take it easy, the housework will wait, and I hope you can sleep it off soon. What a lot of Halloween visitors. We had that sort of inundation here a few times, and have now stopped participating. Not grouches, just find it all a bit much. Happy Anniversary - always a good day! xx

  20. Hope you feel better soon Amy. Take comfort from the fact that it is not the weather for housework or laundry. Happy anniversary. I had the worst cold/flu thing in September when the weather was absolutely gorgeous and I couldn't get out of bed on our anniversary and I wasn't much better a few days later for my husband's birthday. Sob! Saw Basildon in the Guardian yesterday launching the new art exhibition. Looks fabulous.

I've been meaning to tell you that Greenway House will be decorating the house this Christmas with hundreds of hand-crafted pudding decorations (crochet, knitted and felt) it will be fun and I hope I can take some photos for you.

  23. Happy anniversary Amy! So sorry you have the dreaded cold though-awful this time of year. When I am ill feel just as you do-don't even want to do any crafting. Don;t worry about the jobs-they will still be there when you feel better (unfortunately!!) I had a treat bag of goodies and never got any callers oh well, they mustn't go to waste....xx

  24. I always put the lights out and retreat upstairs to my study on Halloween, this year it was very quiet not one knock on the door. Being ill is awful Amy I feel for you I really do I have just got over the same thing and it lasted 2 weeks I hope your's doesn't last as long, I was just feeling a little better when my back went and then a filling cracked haha I have to laugh or I'll cry, 2016 is officially going to be a good health year for all of us no illnesses allowed! Happy Wedding anniversary and make sure that lovely hubby of your's looks after you and who cares about the dust anyway sending hugs and lots of love. xxx

  25. Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby Amy! We get just a few kiddos at the door on Halloween, and it's all done in a couple of hours. Decorations were up Saturday and down on Sunday ... done & dusted! Some people here put their Christmas lights up the same day they take the Halloween decorations down, but I hate for Christmas to drag on for two whole months and ruin the specialness of it. I hope you're feeling better very soon my friend ... no fun being struck down with a rotten cold :P Take care and sending hugs,
    Wendy

  28. Happy anniversary to you and your husband! I'm sorry you've been under the weather. It seems so many people have this awful cold that is making the rounds. Be kind to yourself, and don't worry about the things you aren't getting accomplished right now. The important thing is to take care of yourself.

  32. Happy Anniversary to you and your husband. I'm sorry you've been ill with the cold and hope you'll be on the mend soon. These colds have to 'run their course' and sometimes that can be longer than we wish! Take care, read, relax, watch whatever and get well. Hugs. Pam

  36. Congrats on the anniversary - we had our in Oct, now past the 1/2 century of anniversaries! We don't tend to celebrate, no bells & whistles here, but last year for our Golden we did have a lunch out. We just don't feel the need but lovely that your husband gave you flowers (I can't bring myself to say the word "Hubby", it's a word I don't like but I know a lot of people use it - "husband" is fine, it's just "hubby" I don't like - so it must be me, Amy! I tend to refer to my husband as Sir or The Lad or The Old F*art, but in jest of course, he's a lovely chap, I couldn't have asked for better!)
Sorry you are feeling so rotten. A cold is a miserable thing, but keep taking the hot drinks, honey & lemon and so forth, and soon you might feel a bit like reading if not blog-posting. I have been reading some of the lovely books by Alexandra Stoddard (Living a Beautiful Life and The Decoration of Houses) and I do recommend them. Sorry you are feeling so low and tearful, you are obviously over-tired and the cold will have dragged you down still further. Be kind to yourself, forget the housework, it will wait. Put your feet up.

  41. Hello Amy, visiting you via Vintage Jane. Leave the housework, it will still be there when you're feeling better.
I was away from home for Halloween but still left some goodies on the porch for any spooky visitors though.... a with a hanging ghost who appeared when the security light came on... poor little mites were probably scared witless.... (not enough to leave any goodies though)

  42. I hope you feel much better soon. Even just a cold can leave you feeling really rotten. So far I've managed to avoid it. I've been waiting to see your shawl at the wedding - did I miss the post or have you not done one yet about it?
