Setting Sun

Yesterday evening about 6.30 pm I went up to my desk to do a little blogging - as you do! - and as I sat down I immediately noticed how amazing the sight out of the window was.

Of course my camera was to hand so I grabbed it and took a few shots as the rain fell and the sky continued to change through the most amazing colours and different shades of orange as the sun set.

It was raining so hard that the noise was incredible and the rain was almost coming sideways at some points.

Isn't it amazing and beautiful!  All colours are just as I shot the photos, no filters, nothing.  I just cropped the neighbours houses and most of the window frame out of the photos.

The pictures were taken over the course of about half an hour.  Then the sky cleared somewhat and just went back to grey again.  The clouds passed by and the beautiful scene was all over.

Here are the photos - sorry, quite a lot - in the order I took them so you can see how the colours changed.

A really beautiful way to start the evening!

Amy

p.s. I am having trouble leaving comments on some of your blogs right now, the comment box disappears!  So sorry if I don't appear to have stopped by and left you a message.  I am sure that it will fix itself, but I wanted to let you know that I am not ignoring you!  xx

p.p.s Since I wrote that PS the comments seem to have sorted themselves out!  Anyway, just so those of you that I missed know!  I am back to commenting now!  Technology hey!

  2. Stunning! We went out for our usual dog walk last night and I had to take the camera with me to capture the last rays of summer. We had a beautiful sunset for the autumn equinox and I like you, took a lot of photos. Just trimming them down now to a few to share. Sometimes the sky at this time of the evening is just breathtaking. Have a good rest of week xx

  4. Amazing light show, the sky the colour of liquid gold. Nature is amazing. My son's birthday is 28 September and we always used to have a special football party after school in our field. Some years the sky would come too and put on the most spectacular sunset. I didn't use to take photos as I was too busy with the party but I do especially remember the ones that ended with a light show. Thank you Amy.

  6. You've captured the beautiful change of colours brilliantly, Amy. It's a gorgeous sunset even with all the rain. Our house is on a hill, as most houses are in Sheffield. From the girls' room we can see all the way to the hills in Derbyshire and it's a great spot for watching clouds and colours in the sky. X

  8. Beautiful. I love watching how the sky changes. We had an amazing sunset and sky on Saturday just past but I didn't get any photos.

I've been having some problems trying to leave comments recently. When I click on 'leave a comment' I just get a blank box that I can't enter anything in. When I press Esc the normal comment box appears and works fine. This might work for you. I didn't have any problem with your comment facility.

  24. Hey Amy,
Oh those golden and orange hues! We have had some super sunrises in St Ives lately. I love the idea of capturing moment by moment. I might have a go at that myself.

  29. Hi Amy! What lovely snaps! Isn't it something how the sky can change colors like that? We had a wonderful time in your beautiful country. We had a little rain but the weather always cleared up by afternoon! Oh, honey! I do have a story to tell about Highclere! :)
Thank you for popping in to see me.

  32. Great colours, Amy, so atmospheric, and I like the raindrops on the window!

I, too, have trouble commenting on blogs, but it could be because I am using an IPad. Often when I press "publish" everything just disappears. It's so frustrating, and then I can't remember if I have commented or not and on whose blog I was trying to comment!

  35. Oh, Amy, I'm ashamed I didn't find out where you lived but we just kinda went with the wind. That is so nice of you and I would have loved to see where you work. I know it's gorgeous! Yes, keep very quiet about DA! :) My daughter told me there is a thing called Acorn and for around $5 can see DA right after it airs like you can in the states on PBS! Oh, well, life goes on doesn't it? :) I would have loved to have met you and hugged your sweet neck! ;)
    Continue being a sweetie,

  44. Beautiful..... Fall is definitely upon us and a few mornings I've had to wear a sweater inside the house, lol. :-) I insist on short sleeves too, not quite ready to totally surrender summer. Have an amazing day!

  45. What a beautiful series of shots my Dear! That lighting was perfect -and as the clouds got more dramatic - it gives that lovely moody Fall evening feel... and with raindrops trailing down no less. Perfectly moody and romantic. xoxo
