April Mantel

I feel as though all of a sudden time is running short.  Easter is just a few days away and my mantel is decorated for Easter, so I need to show it to you before Easter, but I had to wait until today for it to be April.  Tomorrow I will share the rest of my Easter decorations and then it will be Easter Sunday and it will all be over!  So too late to share it with you then.  Although I will leave the decorations up for a bit.

Anyway, I will stop going on.  Here is my April Mantel!

I'm not sure if I have introduced you to the cast of characters that appear regularly in my monthly mantel posts.  On the right of the heart you can see Eric the dog and Johan (Sebastian Bach) the sheep - baaach, get it? - and in front of the hearth is Cedric the sausage dog.  Yes, we are mad in this house!

You will recognise several of the things on my mantel from last month and from previous years if you have been a long time reader and have a really good memory!  The details of the daffodil garland can be found here.  I had planned some little crochet bunnies as a garland, but time ran out.  Another year perhaps.

The little glass bunny and chicken are old favourites now, and I do love these daft little fuzzy chicks for Easter.

The coloured ones are new this year, I couldn't resist!  Actually some of the old yellow ones had got so squished they were beyond use.

Of course you know by now that I have to have an obligatory sideways shot - still no idea why!

There you go, all set for Easter and April!  The twigs to the right of the fire have been decorated with some crochet blooms and I will post about those after Easter because they are less time critical!

Overall there hasn't been that much change in my mantel this month, but it feels Eastery and springy and can probably stay this way until the end of April which will be nice.

I wanted to let you know the lovely bunny and spring sign that I received from Carrie are now on my mantel, but I only realised as I wrote this last night that I didn't have any pictures including them and it was too late to include them, so Carrie your lovely things are in use, just not shown here.  They are in fact just where that little group of eggs is over on the left side.

You can see the previous months mantels below

  2. Those little fuzzy chicks ! So cute - they remind me of my childhood... Come to think of it, those chicks have been around for many, many years ! I remember there was always one on the Easter stroll you would buy at the bakery for the typical annual family visit...

  6. Oh the daffodil garland is so pretty and the blooms next to the fire. I love that you give everything names and I especially love the sheep's one (we do it too - cars and everything - so we must be a little bit mad too). I love it when we have visitors and they are confused when we use the names ha! Your mantle is lovely and very Eastery x

I haven't even started any decorating for Easter; the children and I are still in school and I just can't find my Easter mojo. Perhaps on Thursday afternoon, when school's out!

  10. Lovely April/Easter mantel, Amy - my Easter bits and bobs are still waiting for a suitable twig to be found to hang them from and the weather not conducive to going out and looking for one. Have a very Happy Easter:)

  47. My daughter sent me a link to a Youtube video of two guinea pigs who are joined in shot by first one, then another and so on of those brightly coloured fluffy chicks until ultimately there are many - the guinea pigs remain unperturbed throughout - and now I can't shake the association ... chicks equals guinea pigs, luckily I'm rather fond of both!

    Lovely mantle Amy :)
