The latest book that I have finished reading is Good Husband Material by Trisha Ashley.
Tish is not married to her first love, Fergal, he broke her heart and left her. Instead, Tish is married to James. A solicitor. Her mother loves him, but he isn't Fergal who Tish's mother totally disapproved of.
After moving to the country, Tish, a writer, realises that perhaps life is not so good being married to James. When Fergal arrives back in Tish's life unexpectedly things start to change. As Tish works through the problems, she finds that more challenges arrive on an almost daily basis.
There are some very odd people living in the village and Tish makes friends with them as her relationship with James gets worse. Eventually all is well!
Although I am not finding writing reviews any easier, I did enjoy reading this book. It took me far too long to read though, so I need to get better at getting on with reading. That was my failing, not the books!
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. There is nothing nasty, just a good light-hearted read. This is not a comedy, but it is a humorous book, just not in a laughing out loud kind of way.
At times I wanted to shout at Tish because I felt that you could see what was coming and yet she was totally oblivious, but perhaps that is just me! I did feel that at exactly 500 pages long it could have been shorter and there were a few things that were totally irrelevant, such as James obsession with ham radio. I kept expecting it to have some impact on the story, but other than annoying Tish, there was no reason for it.
In a way this was written rather like a series of blog posts. That is what it reminded me of! Tish would also have made a very good blogger as she is a collector of dried out leaves in the autumn which she sprinkles around her home in baskets and drifts on the floor. Just what any good blogger would do!
In summary. A fun read, a good read and I would recommend it!
You can read about my plan to read my books here.
