Five on Friday

Thank you all so much for your wonderful New Years good wishes via your comments and e-mails.  I think that I replied to you where I could or commented on your own blog, but in case I missed you please know that I wish you a wonderful New Year and I really do hope that in 2015 only good things come to you and yours!

Now, I have to confess, this post has been written at least 5 times already and then changed and/or deleted. Here I am changing it again.  I struggled with what to write, I was not at all inspired for some reason.  However, I woke up this morning and just knew straight away what this post should be about.  So I ran downstairs - still in the half gloom light - put all the lights on and took some pictures and voila, here is my post - at last!!

Christmas lived up to expectations - exceeded them actually.  Not necessarily in a good way if you know what I mean.  However, there were good things, and here are some previews to show you some of things that will be coming up in the following days, weeks and months of 2015.  I am determined to move onwards and upwards and stronger this year and these things will be a part of that.

Here we go, finally and most importantly of all, positively, Five on Friday...

Any ideas what the thing in the picture above is?  It was a gift for Christmas and will be much in use this year!

You might be able to guess what the above items are - from the woolly things! - and again they will be much used.  There are actually four of them.  I treated myself!

It turns out that "he of the no wool winder" was trying to throw me off the scent of things this Christmas.  For our wedding anniversary, he bought me the above.  For Christmas he bought the below.  They will both go with the item in the first picture and be much in evidence this year I expect!

There was also, of course, some crafting and I will show you this in full as soon as I can get a better photo.

So, instead of gloom, promise of five good things to come this year.  All part of onwards and upwards and stronger!

There was no wool winder for Christmas.  So yesterday I ordered myself one.  It should be here next week.  Yay!!  I am very excited.  I ordered some yarn to go with it.  Then I realised the yarn unravels from the middle, so I won't need the winder.  That means I will need to order some more yarn doesn't it!!

  2. It is always fun and exciting ordering and receiving new yarn. Have fun with your projects. I'm not sure what the 1st photo is? The other looks like a Pom pom maker and the other looks like some kind of rug? Have a wonderful Friday and weekend.

  3. Happy New Year, lovely! What a positive & happy post - a good start to the year 😊 What a lucky girl you are - looking forward to seeing your crafty creations ... especially the Hug cushion (is it a cushion?) as I have one of those on my "wanties" list too. Wishing you all good things for a fab year ahead & thanks for your inspiring contribution to this bloggy world 😘 xx

  4. No idea what the wooden thing is, I'm intrigued. Lovely gifts though, lucky you. And a wool winder will be so very useful. I don't have one, but I often wish I did! CJ xx

  5. Ah ha! Is it a tapestry frame? I shall look forward to finding out more (and to seeing the wool winder, which I am very intrigued about). It strikes me that Onwards, Upwards & Stronger is an excellent mantra for the year. Thanks for the inspiration to do more needlework this year- I am very excited about it all xx

  7. Now I am guessing that the first is a tapestry frame and the second a pompom maker? Glad all went well for Xmas and you are looking toward a positive new year. Take care.

  12. Some lovely presents there Amy should keep you quiet for a while. Mine were mainly books - I have so many in the 'to be read' pile now that I may not live long enough to read them all. Wishing you a very productive and inspiring new year.

  16. Hi Amy, I dropping by from Wendy at September Violet's blog. I don't knit so cannot recognize the new items you're excited about. However, I've picked up from other knitters that having lots of yarn to choose from is a good thing and possibly stashes of it to await projects.
    Happy crafting in 2015.

  17. The top one reminds me of a portable artists frame/easel but I guess it is something to do with wool or yarn? How very intriguing, Amy - I look forward to each being revealed in later posts:)

  18. I bought the Clover pom-pom makers before Christmas. They work great. I had to look at a few online videos to learn how to use them. The trick is to wind the wool on as many times as you possibly can. That gives a nice dense pom-pom.

  19. Promises of five lovely things to come....Can't wait to see more of them in 2015!
Have a wonderful time using all your new craft toys : ) x

  20. Happy 2015 to you Amy, wow you did very well in the craft department for crimbo, how exciting and any excuse to order more wool is excellent in my book.

  21. Tapestry frame!!! It looks like a good solid, stand up one as well... so no sore wrists from holding it up!! Well done; tapestry is such a brilliant contemplative task. You really can get in the flow and let your brain think free (as long as it's a pre-printed canvas and not a chart!) I haven't done any for years........

  22. Happy Crafting!

I'm glad you were able to come up with a post for today. I was in bed selecting photos last night about midnight. I have to get my post up on Thursday night for all you Brits who get up far before the sun rises here in Canada ;)
Enjoy your weekend Amy and Happy New Year!

  26. Well done on ordering your wool winder, you could always wind up some of the odd balls you have then they will be ready to use from the middle and wont bounce around the floor.
The first looks like a tapestry stand and the second is pom pom makers. looking forward to seeing your crafty posts :-)

  27. No idea what that first one is but I fully expect to know in the near future! Happy new year to you. xx

  28. Could it be a loom Amy, I saw a man working on one when I went to Skipton last month and was totally fascinated, aw what a pity your yarn is not going to be suitable for the winder you will definitely have to buy more, can't wait to see t. Have a great weekend. :)

  29. Hmmm did you get a swift? if not you will need one if you have a ball winder! I have both and I love them!! A good Pom Pom maker is a super gift, I need to get one as my wrapping method around a piece of cardboard is so yesterday. Looks like there is going to be some beautiful stitchinh in the New Year!! I love your thoughts for the New Year, looking forward to seeing all your lovely crafts!

  31. I used to have a giant tapestry frame which had bits on it that looked like your first photo. Actually, now that I think about it, I think I probably still have it. ;o)

  33. Amy, always so positive and looking forward. I won't even try to guess on #1, although it appears some have figured it out. Not being a crafter, I'm probably out of the loop on these items. Have a wonderful 2015, and I'll look forward to seeing what you are creating.

  41. Well it's definitely a tapestry frame - I have one but not with a stand. Love the 2 tapestry designs and can't wait to see the finished results - it's been ages since I did some tapestry, maybe I should add it to my list of crafts to revisit. x
