This week, several things that are small in the scheme of things have made me hopping mad - the most incredibly vile anonymous comment on my blog, and verbal abuse from a cold caller amongst them. I was going to try and write about them and explain my ire to you. However, after writing it down I decided that I didn't want to think about it any more, and so why would you want to read it all.
Instead, I have a couple of, I hope, more pleasant proposals for you! I would love it if you would be kind enough to give me your feed back on either or both things and if there is interest in either or both of them, I will go ahead with them in the coming weeks.
The first one is this.
It is, as we know, approaching Christmas time. The time we would, in years gone past, perhaps have got the address book out, and started writing and sending cards to family and friends. However, the rise of e-mail, increasing postage costs and so on have meant that perhaps we don't send cards either at all, or as much as we might have done in the past.
Although I would love to send a Christmas card to each and every one of you there is no way that I could afford the postage. So instead, I wondered if you would be interested in participating in a Christmas card swap? My thoughts were that you could sign up to send a card to one, two, or perhaps three other people either in your own country or around the world. They would in turn send a card to you. It would just be a card, nothing else, to be fair to everyone and to keep postage costs down as much as possible.
If you would be interested, let me know below and if there is enough interest, I will do a post about it and ask people to sign up there in the next week or so. To make it interesting I think that we would need at least 10 or so people. I just need a "yes" for now, nothing else!
The second idea is this.
If you are a regular reader of my blog you will know my "Five on Friday" posts - there is a page link to them at the top of the sidebar. I have been tossing around ideas for getting other bloggers to join in with this. I thought of doing a link party, but that makes a lot of work and reading for others.
So instead, I wondered if anyone else would like to join me, at least once a month, and we would do a post, on a Friday, about five things of our own choice. Then we would link to the other bloggers and our readers could then either go across and read them, or just view it as a stand alone post. You could write about anything, five happy things, five of your favourite photos, five of your favourite quotes, your five favourite flowers. Anything that comes in a group of five. To keep in with the theme of five, I thought that if there were five of us doing it regularly that would be fun.
There is already one person interested, so we are looking for at least another three to join us. I would ask that you are committed to doing this regularly - as I said, at least once a month.
So, if you are interested, leave me a comment and make sure that I can e-mail you, and I will get back to you. If you prefer you can e-mail me direct, my address is on the "about" page, which is also at the top of the sidebar.
I hope that you like these ideas and that some of you would like to join one or other of them. Joining in and having fun and doing nice things is so much better than being nasty and unkind isn't it!
Thank you for taking five minutes on Friday - or any other day! - to read this. I hope that you have a good weekend whatever you are doing, whether you are an existing or new reader I welcome you all and wish you well.
