One for the boys

Do you remember when I told you about our holiday that I mentioned going to the Drag Racing?  Probably not because most of you are ladies and aren't that interested and I don't blame you one little bit for that!  However, some of you are men or have sons and husbands who might be interested.  So I thought that I would explain a little more and show you some of the over 500 pictures that my husband took.  Don't worry, there aren't 500 photos here!!

So, why Drag Racing I hear you ask.  Well it is one of my husbands hobbies!  If we ever go to America on holiday it is always arranged around some car event or other.  This time it was the Hot Rod Reunion at the New England Dragway in Exeter, New Hampshire.  We do go to other car events in England and have done for many years now.  Rest assured though, this isn't going to turn into a car blog!!

I cannot say that it is my hobby or something that I have a passion for, however, after all these years I do have some interest and go along to things with hubby and to his car clubs events and other things.  It is a sociable hobby and one that I am happy to go along with.

Here are the pictures that I have selected for you, no captions or details, but if you - or the man in your life! - has a question, let me know and I will ask Hubby and come back to you.

Normal crafting and homemaking service will resume tomorrow!

  9. Oh Amy, not for me as a hobby but on a sunny day looking at another's passion has it's appeal, you can't fail to admire the cars-just gleaming, some look like 'dinky' cars, umm guessing those lovely dragster people wouldn't have an interest in crochet either ha ha.

  18. Those are some really cool looking trucks and cars! My brother-in-law and nephew would just love this. My BIL likes to restore cars and my nephew works for a private collector and restores some amazing antiques. I can see this would be fun!

  19. My hubby used to drag race his GTO, but not professionally, just kids stuff. When I was a teenager we used to have a drag racing venue in a town nearby, so it was a great thing to do on Sunday nights. That is until I saw a car roll and kill a driver. Couldn't go back after that.

  20. Drag racing and stock car racing are very popular here Amy. I have friends that go to New Hampshire to the races all the time. We aren't into them at all but I sure do admire these beautiful vintage cars you've shared here. I'm sure you and your husband had a fun time at these races!

  25. Hi Amy! Thanks for posting the photos, some seriously amazing cars here!
I love vintage cars, used to go to various shows whilst still living in England, we even owned one for a while!
I can see though that although the 'shell' may be vintage, the engines are pretty much 'souped up' in order to compete in this kind of event!
    Such shiny engines!!! ;)
    What a cool hobby!

  26. I'm not much of a petrol-head - my eyes glaze over when friends start talking the torque - but I do like nice cars. And I can appreciate the beauty of some of the vehicles your fella has photographed - wow!

  27. Great photos and yes we did take photos of cars whilst in UK, but we've done the Morris Minor thing for many years and do have one, but only "one" these days. Our two boys also love cars and motor bikes too, so I understand well. Take care.

  28. How stinkin cool.
    I love the red truck.
I've been married 30 years ,my hubby takes me antiquing for hours and buys me lots of wool.
I sit in trees with him when he hunts.
I also help him plant 100's of trees. He loves trees. :)
We make happy marriages out of love for each other's passions and each other.
    Woolie Blessings

  34. The cars are really fun. I've never been to an official drag race track but there is plenty of illegal drag racing on the streets where I live! It's not fun for the rest of us, though. I once had a friend whose neighbor owned a "famous" drag racing vehicle called Thunder Chicken!
