More mandalas!!!

Do you remember when I was struck with Mandalitis Fever recently?  Well, it seems that it struck again.  While we were away I bought six balls of Rico Design Creative Cotton Aran in the following shades.

62 - Vanilla
32 - Light Blue
44 - Light Pistachio
16 - Violet
00 - Rose
80 - White

Combined with a ball of Sugar 'n Cream, in Cool Breeze Ombre, I just had to get creating.

First I created this

It is the smallest of the three Mandalas, but is a lovely little size and was a nice way to try out the colours.

Then came this

This one is larger, and is feels to me as though it combines the best that ice cream colours have to offer!  It reminds me of the seaside and childhood ice cream somehow.  The edge is made using the Sugar 'n Cream and is the first time that I have done a picot edge, so I was pretty pleased with how it turned out all things considered.

Finally, I ended up here!

I think that this is my favourite, it is what I had in mind when I chose the colours of the yarn and I think that this might just make its way to my dressing table as the colours will go in our bedroom and it is a girly thing isn't it!

All three are to my own design that I created as I went along.

So, Mandalitis Fever struck again, but I am happy to be stuck with such an illness!  I wonder if I could make a giant one to go on our outside table?  I cannot imagine what my husband would say about that.  Also, I have two blankets and a shawl on the go, perhaps I better return to working on them for now!

You can see some more Mandala's at Hannapat's Monthly Mand a Long.  Happy Mandalaing!

Amy

  4. You clever thing designing these Amy they are all lovely but I like the last one the best too. I want to make some and use as wall hanging's but I'm not sure which yarn to use or how to keep it stiff enough so that it will hang properly, I'm wondering if they would be better backed but if so by what, once I have solved these little puzzles there will be no stopping me, a nice summer project I think. :) xx

How did you like the yarn? I found it pretty, and I love the colours, but quite "splitty" when I used it.

  18. So so pretty! Oooo, all my favourite colours! Your designs are lovely - I especially like the one with the picot edge, the centre seems to be floating with the way you kept the space between the edge and middle sections. Well done! Chrissie x
