And Christmas at my house!

After Christmas at Basildon Park yesterday, here are some Christmassy pictures from my house!

A bit of Christmas in my big cloche!

This is my oldest Christmas decoration from the first time I ever decorated on my own, several decades ago!

These angels were wedding anniversary presents that my hubby and I bought each other a few years ago from Liberty's.

This little car and the angel below were presents from Harrods.

The reindeer above was a present this year from my Mum from Germany, and she bought the ball below for me last year.

The bell above is inherited from my hubbys family and is probably about 40 or 50 years old.  The ornament below is from our holiday in Italy this year!

The cable car above is from our first visit to San Francisco in 2001 when my hubby asked me to marry him!  The little santa below is from a set of handpainted ornaments my Mum bought me from Russia a few years ago.

And the whole tree!

The tree below was another gift from hubby from an airport in Germany on his way back from a business trip last year.

And finally my Christmas Village!

Can you tell that I love to receive Christmas ornaments as presents!

Amy

  1. Oh Amy I have a cable car decoration from when we honeymooned in San Francisco and I love it! It's a lovely, sweet reminder that we take out each year... I am also a "bauble getter" fan... the older the better and the more glitter the better too! Have a great Christmas xxx Hazel

Hands down the best one I have ever seen! Is it made out of wood??? Your tree and Christmas home is stunning Amy! I hope that you have a beautiful weekend ahead! 1. Most all of the houses are wooden Nicole, but there are some that are acrylic (to look like glass), and the trees are mostly wooden or glass. I have been collecting bits gradually each year, but this is the first time that I have been able to lay it out how I really wanted, so that was quite exciting to be able to do! I wonder if it will snow next year in woodenvillageville!! Glad that yoiu liked it. Sorry to hear that you have been with flu at yours, I hope that you are all feeling better now! Happy Christmas to you and yours. xx

  17. I love ornaments that mean so much through the years. Our main tree has ornaments that we've collected over the years and each is precious. We even have one on there which Wendell made as a child in school. It's a huge thing and we jokingly put it at the back of the tree to weigh it down!!

    1. How lovely that Wendell has kept that ornament since his childhood. I like the idea of it weighting down the tree - as if it might blow away! I can imagine that you have some lovely ornament memories with your tree. Happy Christmas to you and yours. xx

  20. What a perfect tree! Love all the little ornaments ... thank you for sharing their snippets of history with us. That's what I like best about Christmas ornaments is that they almost all have a little story to tell, and we get to listen to it once a year. Your husband knows you very will with all the decorations he has given you ;) The little village is so sweet. And that large town hall(?) is quite the piece of work! My mother-in-law collected the ceramic Dickens village pieces for many years ... it became an obsession for her I think. Now she doesn't even bother getting it out ... too much work. I've really pared down the decorating from when my kids were little. We have the tree up, and a few things around, but now I'm focusing more on making the house extra cozy with pillows and throws. Loved the tour of Basildon Park in your last post ... such a gorgeous home! You are so very lucky to be able to spend your days there guiding people through its past history. I hope you and your family have a wonderfully Merry Christmas Amy! It's been so nice to get to know you through these blogs. Wendy xox

    1. Shame that your MIL doesn't get her christmas village out, perhaps one day you will be able to persuade her to set it up for all to see. Sometimes I go all out with decorating and then not so much other times, just depends, it is nice to change things up isn't it. Glad you liked the Basildon tour, I wish that I could show you round in person one day - we can dream hey! I will e-mail later. Happy Christmas to you and yours. xx

  21. What lovely decorations you have, I love that they are from all over the place and different people-the tree looks beautiful. I feel that my tree is a little sad now looking at yours :) Although I have some wooden seagull tree decorations that I bought for hubby when we first moved here and I do love them.

    1. No Suzie, don't feel sad about your tree. We all have different trees and different styles, I bet that yours is a lot easier to put up and down than mine! I love the idea of the seagull decorations - and so apt for you of course! I am sure that over time you will collect things and have memories attached to them. I hope that you have a Happy and memory filled Christmas with your loved ones and friends. xx

I guess because I like things with a past, not just all new - not that new is bad!
